This podcast is geared for parents and students to work together and experiment. It makes literacy connections by having the student predict what they think they know about volcanoes, then has them read information from a website to answer specific questions presented for the predictions. This way they practice predicting along with their reading comprehension and writing through summary skills. They are also to complete an online activity that shows them what constitutes a volcano and what different levels of gas and can do to the viscosity of the lava. It also gives them a brief of what a volcano is, why it occurs, and gives a hands on opportunity for the students to experience a tornado. The activity given is for a parent and child to work together to make a home made volcano. This will show the student various characteristics of volcanoes. Below is hand out for the activity!
